This wedding cake trend of 2018 is like a Geologist's dream!

But the way talented bakers have taken these motifs and given them an edgy, modern and sleek twist they are turning out to be the dream of many bridal couples!

Speckled with gold, the marbling effect done in various hues and the crystals sparkling like a marvelous treasure of sugar, how can they not amaze and thrill?

Wedding Cake Trends 2018: Black and Gold Cakes

Now continuing on my Trend Report on Wedding Cake Trends for 2018, the next is a combination of colours that perhaps are not traditional Wedding Colours.

Black is the colour for mourning and as such avoided at weddings but the new mordern interpretation of wedding cakes that use black, gold and natural florals has many a bride choosing to opt for this very chic and glamorous look!

At CAKED, our little venture, we offer a variety of services and products. Desserts,Celebrations cakes, Traditional Goan Snacks and more but my true passion lies in designing and creating Wedding Cakes!

I love to incorporate the personal touches unique to the Bride and Groom as well as capture the overall mood that they wish to create at their wedding reception. 

In 2018, Wedding Cakes have come a long way from fussy Royal Icing covered Rounds balancing on plastic Grecian looking pillars to now adopting a more sleeker, organic and gently gilded avataar.

There is abundant inspiration available online for those planning their Wedding this year but there are a few trends that really stand out according to me. I thought I'd do a series of Wedding Cake Inspirations and Trends for 2018!

First trend: Drip Cakes!

Drip cakes can be delightfully whimsical strewn with dainty Macarons and mini donuts or  deliciously rustic left with naked tiers and adorned with wild flowers and fruit. They can have Caramel , Chocolate or Gold drips. In some cases they're paired with other popular 2018 trends like Block Colours or Gold Foil.  

For a Bridal couple with Bohemian Aesthetics they're the ideal choice!
